Round 15 Shines Spotlight on British Players in 2024 NRL Season

Round 15 of the 2024 NRL season is now complete, with several British players making their mark on the action. Burnley native Herbie Farnworth and ex-England international Elliott Whitehead both found the try-line, while Morgan Smithies was Canberra Raiders’ defensive standout.

In the Dolphins’ narrow 30-28 victory over the Cronulla Sharks, centre Herbie Farnworth played the full 80 minutes and scored a try in the first half. The Burnley-born ace also made a game-high 19 carries, totalling 215 metres.

Over at the Canberra Raiders, Morgan Smithies was the team’s top tackler in their 34-16 defeat against the North Queensland Cowboys, registering an impressive 39 tackles with a 97.5% efficiency. Teammate Elliott Whitehead, the Bradford-born veteran, also crossed the line in the 69th minute, finishing with 35 tackles and 94 metres gained.

Elsewhere, South Sydney Rabbitohs prop Tom Burgess made an impactful 26-minute cameo off the bench in his side’s 22-12 victory over the Brisbane Broncos. The Dewsbury-born forward ran for 137 metres from 13 carries and maintained a tackle efficiency rate over 89%.
