Bradford Bulls Bolster Roster with Signing of Brisbane Tigers Centre Max Lehmann
In a significant move, the Bradford Bulls have secured the services of Brisbane Tigers centre Max Lehmann until the end of the season. The 24-year-old Lehmann joins the Bulls, who currently sit sixth in the Championship, just three points shy of second place and three points clear of seventh.
Head coach Eamon O’Carroll, the former Wigan man recruited from the Catalans Dragons, has spearheaded an impressive recruitment drive that has sparked renewed excitement at Odsal. Signings like Mitch Souter, John Davies, and loan deals for Liam Tindall and Jayden Okunbor have bolstered the Bulls’ roster, but the most influential addition has been forward Zac Fulton, whose presence has been crucial in convincing Lehmann to make the move.
Lehmann, who can also play on the wing, is eager to have a similar impact to his best friend Fulton. The American-born centre joins the Bulls from the Brisbane Tigers, where he has scored 16 tries in 22 appearances since his debut in 2023. Prior to that, Lehmann played for Parramatta’s reserve side in the 2022 season.
“I’m really excited to join the Bradford Bulls, it’s such a historic club with a history of success. I can’t wait to add to that history.”
Lehmann also expressed his enthusiasm for the opportunity to play sports overseas and travel, stating, “It’s the best opportunity to do both, so when the chance came I wanted to take it with both hands.”
Lehmann’s connection with Fulton has also played a significant role in his decision, as he noted, “Zac [Fulton] is my best mate and I’ve seen him start to really enjoy his footy here at Bradford and as a result his game has gone to another level. I’ll be aiming to make the same impact in the areas of the game where I’m involved.”
The signing of Lehmann is a clear statement of intent from the Bradford Bulls as they strive to reclaim their place in the Super League. While the club’s on-field performances will be crucial, the focus also lies on securing a deal to improve their stadium infrastructure, a necessary step in their pursuit of a return to the top flight.
