Promising Young Talent Sam Halsall Extends Contract with Huddersfield Giants
In a move that signifies the club’s faith in his potential, rugby league rising star Sam Halsall has signed a contract extension with Huddersfield Giants. The 22-year-old outside-back revealed the news in a recent interview on The Bench with Jenna and Jon.
Halsall, who joined the Giants on a three-year deal ahead of the 2023 season, has now added an extra two years to his stay at the Kirklees Stadium, committing his future to the club until the end of the 2027 season.
“The club came with the offer and there wasn’t really any doubt in my mind of where I wanted to be, where I wanted to play. They put a lot of belief in me last year, and I was grateful for the opportunity that they gave me.”
Prior to his move to Huddersfield, Halsall had come through the academy ranks at Wigan Warriors, making his Super League debut in 2020. However, a proposed player swap between the two clubs saw him join the Giants, a decision he admits was “pretty tough at first” as Wigan had been the only club he had known.
Halsall’s performances in 2023 have already demonstrated his value to the Giants, with the young star scoring five tries so far this season, including impressive hat-trick displays against Castleford Tigers and Hull FC.
With his blend of speed, skill and try-scoring ability, Halsall’s contract extension is a smart move by the Huddersfield Giants, as they look to secure the long-term future of this promising young talent.
