On Friday night, Wigan Warriors coach Matt Peet had high praise for five of his players following their comfortable 36-14 victory over Castleford Tigers in Round 8 of Super League.
The Warriors secured their second win over the Tigers in just six days, cementing their position in the league. In his post-match press conference, Peet highlighted the standout performances of Kruise Leeming, Zach Eckersley, Mike Cooper, Junior Nsemba, and Ryan Hampshire.
Peet commended Leeming’s defensive solidity and excellent service, despite the diminished opportunity for his usual running game. Experienced prop Cooper, who played around half an hour, also drew positive feedback from Peet.
Regarding the powerful Nsemba, the Wigan boss highlighted the winger’s explosive qualities and impressive development, particularly in adapting to a new halfback partner in Ryan Hampshire. Peet emphasized Hampshire’s importance to the squad, noting his versatility and the calmness he brings when called upon, allowing the team to manage the absence of Jai Field.
“Kruise Leeming, Zach Eckersley, Mike Cooper, Junior Nsemba, and Ryan Hampshire all had standout performances for us tonight.”
