Rugby League Experts Weigh In on Brodie Croft’s Future
The Sky Sports commentary team has shared their insights on the rumored return of Leeds Rhinos star Brodie Croft to the NRL. Croft, who joined the Rhinos earlier this season from Salford Red Devils, has been linked with a potential move to the Gold Coast Titans.
The speculation was ignited by comments made by Croft’s agent, Chris Orr, who told the Daily Telegraph that his client “absolutely has NRL aspirations and has got NRL options in his contract every year.” Orr also praised Croft’s resurgence, stating that he has “regained his running game and become one of the most lethal runners in Super League,” and could potentially win the prestigious Man of Steel award again this year.
However, Sky Sports pundit Jon Wilkin played down the chances of Croft returning to the NRL, suggesting that Orr’s comments were merely an attempt to “talk up” his client. Wilkin believes that the rumors are primarily driven by Croft’s agent.
In contrast, fellow Sky Sports presenter Brian Carney dismissed the notion that Croft has been in impressive form this season. Carney stated, “In my opinion, I don’t think Brodie Croft is anywhere near his best this season,” seemingly contradicting Orr’s assessment.
The Titans are indeed experiencing issues in the halves, but it appears unlikely that Croft will be making the move to the Gold Coast anytime soon. Carney’s assessment seems to align with the general perception among Rhinos fans, who are hoping to see more from the playmaker in the coming weeks and months.
Given that Leeds paid a reported £300,000 for Croft and Andy Ackers, the club is unlikely to let the Australian go without a significant financial offer. Unless the Titans are willing to open up their chequebook, it is more probable that Croft will remain at Headingley, at least until the end of the current season.
