Castleford Tigers Bolster Roster with Loan of Hull KR Winger Louis Senior
In a strategic move, the Castleford Tigers have secured the temporary services of winger Louis Senior on an initial two-week loan deal from fellow Super League side Hull KR. The agreement allows for a rolling week-by-week extension beyond the initial period.
Reuniting the Senior Brothers
The loan move will see Louis reunited with his twin brother, Innes, who joined the Tigers on a season-long loan from Huddersfield Giants during the off-season. The Senior brothers represented Ireland together at the previous World Cup, and their familiarity and on-field chemistry are expected to benefit the Castleford squad.
“Louis is someone we’ve been looking at for a while, and it’s always important when looking to strengthen your squad to bring in players that fit. There’s no better example than Louis fitting in that, being at the club with his twin brother Innes who has done a great job for us since he came in.”
Bolstering the Tigers’ Roster
Castleford’s Director of Rugby, Danny Wilson, expressed his enthusiasm for the addition, stating that the club is continuously on the lookout for potential additions to the roster.
The move comes at a crucial time for the Tigers, who have been dealing with a sizable injury list, with only 17 fit players available for their recent match against Wigan. Wilson emphasized the need to bolster the squad in terms of both numbers and quality.
“I’ve known and coached against the twins for a long time, so I know the type of people they are and what they bring. When we had the opportunity to bring Louis in, we jumped at the chance.”
Louis Senior’s Excitement
Louis Senior, who scored 25 tries in 42 appearances for Huddersfield before his move to Hull KR last year, expressed his excitement about the opportunity to link up with his brother and join the Castleford squad.
“I’m excited to be linking up with Innes again. Playing with your family is something to tell the kids about in the future. I love playing with Innes, we both feed off each other energy-wise, and he’s enjoying his rugby at Cas. He’s starting to find a bit of form and growing in confidence too, so hopefully, I can do the same.”
The temporary addition of Louis Senior is expected to provide a timely boost to the Castleford Tigers as they navigate the challenges of the Super League season.
