Jasmin Strange Eyes England Rugby Representation

Sydney Roosters Star Considers Representing England

Sydney Roosters outside-back Jasmin Strange has expressed her desire to potentially represent England in the near future, putting head coach Stuart Barrow and his selection team on alert. The 21-year-old, who will turn 22 in December, has enjoyed a successful NRLW career, winning back-to-back premierships with the Newcastle Knights in 2023 and the Roosters in 2024.

Despite being eligible for the Māori All Stars through her heritage, which she has already represented, Strange’s sights are set on donning the England jersey. With her mother being English and her father, who is also her Roosters head coach, having Kiwi roots, the New South Wales-born youngster is keen to explore the possibility of playing for the England national team.

“I am eligible for the Kiwis, but my mum’s fully English, so I wouldn’t mind trying to give the English team a crack. My dad’s side were really proud of me for playing Māori (All Stars), but I know that my mum’s side who still live in England would be very happy if I did that.”

Her brother, Ethan, is also eligible for the Kiwis, England, and Australia, but is yet to commit to a specific national team. Under international rules, players are not allowed to appear for two different tier-one countries, and if the siblings represent either the Kiwis or England, they will no longer be eligible for selection in State of Origin due to these regulations.

Ethan has already represented New South Wales at the under-19s level, but remains open to the possibility of playing for any of the three national teams he is eligible for.
