Rugby League News: Tanah Boyd’s Cross-NRL Switch to New Zealand Warriors
Gold Coast Titans half-back Tanah Boyd, who was previously linked with a move to the Super League in 2025, has instead secured a two-year deal with the New Zealand Warriors. The 24-year-old playmaker, who made his NRL debut in 2019, has struggled for game time at the Titans, featuring in just nine matches in the 2024 season.
Despite speculation of a potential move to the British game, Boyd has opted to stay within the NRL, joining the Warriors on a contract that runs until the end of the 2026 campaign. The former Queensland Under-20s representative, who has scored nine tries in his 69 NRL appearances, will add depth and competition to the Warriors’ halves unit.
“Warriors’ Development and Pathways Manager, Andrew McFadden, expressed his delight at securing Boyd’s signature, highlighting the player’s quality, kicking game, and goal-kicking ability as valuable assets that will strengthen the squad.”
Penrith-born Boyd, the son of former Panthers and Balmain Tigers prop Shayne, stated that he was drawn to the “direction of the club” and the opportunity to make an impact, following in the footsteps of other players who have successfully made the transition from Australia to New Zealand.
This cross-NRL move for Tanah Boyd comes as the latest development in the rugby league player market, with the LRL previously reporting on former Super League players now seeking opportunities in the NRL’s open market.
