Leeds Rhinos Youngster Attracting Interest Ahead of Potential 2025 Exit
Leeds Rhinos youngster Kieran Hudson is drawing attention from clubs across Super League and the Championship as he nears a potential departure from Headingley. The forward is yet to make his first-team debut for the Rhinos since joining from Castleford Tigers at the end of last season, with a serious Achilles injury at the start of 2023 preventing him from featuring for the Super League side thus far.
Despite remaining under contract until 2025, Leeds are keen to create more salary cap space as they look to bolster Brad Arthur’s squad for the upcoming season. Love Rugby League understands the Rhinos would not stand in Hudson’s way should he seek a release and a move to another club, though there are also no plans to actively move the player on if he wishes to stay.
This has alerted several teams in the top tiers of the domestic Rugby League structure to a player still widely regarded as having immense potential. While injuries have hindered Hudson’s progress in the last two seasons, the young forward initially caught the eye with an impressive spell at Whitehaven, leading to his move to Castleford prior to joining Leeds.
“As he recovered from the serious Achilles setback at the start of 2023, Hudson faced a series of minor niggles that further delayed his return to action. However, he has since featured on dual-registration for Halifax Panthers and played for the Rhinos’ reserve side last weekend against Wakefield Trinity.”
With Leeds pushing for a playoff spot in the final four rounds of the Super League season, a first-team debut for Hudson appears unlikely at this stage. Nevertheless, the front-rower is now generating interest from elsewhere, as a move for the 2025 season looks increasingly possible as the Rhinos aim to evolve their own squad at Headingley.
