Leeds Rhinos vs. Warrington Wolves Match Update: Youngster’s Debut Marred by Injury

Rugby League Scoreline Update: Youngster’s Promising Debut Marred by Hamstring Injury

On Thursday evening, the Leeds Rhinos faced off against the Warrington Wolves in a thrilling Round 17 clash. Despite the Rhinos’ valiant efforts, it was the Wolves who emerged victorious with a 30-18 win.

The standout performance of the night came from 19-year-old Leeds Rhinos youngster Ned McCormack, who scored his first-ever senior try for the club in the 53rd minute. Making just his third senior appearance under new head coach Brad Arthur, McCormack’s try helped the Rhinos cut the deficit to 10 points at 24-14 down.

“Footage showed the centre being helped off the field by the Rhinos’ medical staff, and shortly after, Sky’s pitchside reporter Jenna Brooks confirmed that the youngster had picked up a hamstring problem that would rule him out of the remainder of the contest.”

Earlier in the match, the Rhinos found themselves trailing 24-4 at the break, with Matty Ashton, Matt Dufty (2) and Rodrick Tai all crossing the line for the Wolves. A try from Leeds’ Lachie Miller had provided some hope, but the Rhinos’ comeback attempts were ultimately thwarted when Warrington’s Tom Whitehead scored.

Despite a late try from Paul Momirovski, the Rhinos were unable to mount a successful fightback, with the final score standing at 30-18 in favor of the Warrington Wolves.

This match saw the Rhinos’ Papua New Guinea international Rhyse Martin miss the conversion following McCormack’s try, with the youngster now having made two of his three senior appearances for the Rhinos against Warrington.
