St Helens to Appeal Moses Mbye’s Ban Again in Bid to Face Rivals Wigan
St Helens will make a second attempt to overturn Moses Mbye’s one-match suspension on Wednesday evening, hoping to have the utility player available for their highly anticipated derby clash with Wigan Warriors this Friday.
Mbye was handed the ban by the Match Review Panel following last week’s 8-6 defeat against Castleford Tigers, with the incident deemed ‘Grade B Dangerous Contact’. Despite an initial appeal on Tuesday night, the suspension was upheld by the Operational Rules Tribunal.
“Undeterred, the Super League champions have revealed they will launch another appeal on Wednesday, aiming to have Mbye included in their 21-man squad for the trip to Wigan’s Brick Community Stadium.”
Head coach Paul Wellens has named a 20-player squad for the derby, leaving space for Mbye should the club’s second appeal prove successful.
Wigan, meanwhile, will be without hooker Brad O’Neill for the fixture, as he also serves a one-match ban for a ‘Grade B Dangerous Throw/Lift’ in their win over Leigh Leopards. Unlike St Helens, the Warriors have opted not to appeal against O’Neill’s suspension.
