Rugby League News: Salford’s Marc Sneyd and Hull FC’s Ligi Sao Reach Milestone Appearances
Salford’s Marc Sneyd and Hull FC’s Ligi Sao both hit significant appearance milestones during their dramatic Round 16 clash on Sunday afternoon, which the Red Devils won 22-20.
Sneyd, orchestrating proceedings throughout, was responsible for 10 of Salford’s 22 points and earned another Sky Sports Man of the Match award as his team secured their fourth consecutive victory.
The win, however, did not come easily, with Hull leading for much of the first half before mounting a late comeback. Ben Reynolds’ missed conversions denied FC the chance to force the game into Golden Point extra time, and the visitors ultimately fell short of becoming just the second club to leave the Salford Community Stadium with a win this season, after Wigan Warriors.
Ligi Sao, the Hull forward, marked his 150th senior career appearance, with 96 of those now coming for the Black & Whites since joining the club in 2020. The Auckland-born Samoa international has also featured for the Combined Nations All Stars.
For Salford’s Sneyd, Sunday’s match was his 300th Super League appearance, a milestone he has reached through 113 games for the Red Devils/City Reds, 161 for Hull FC, and 26 on loan with Castleford Tigers.
Despite the significance of the day, which also saw Salford honor the emergency services and the life of rugby league icon Rob Burrow, Sneyd’s performance was the highlight, as he orchestrated the Red Devils’ narrow victory.
