Catalans Dragons Edge Out Hull KR in Tight Super League Clash
On Saturday, the Catalans Dragons edged out Hull KR 15-14 at Sewell Group Craven Park thanks to a match-deciding drop goal from Theo Fages. The victory sees the Dragons move within just two points of their opponents in the Super League table, with Hull KR sitting fourth and the Catalans in fifth.
Wigan Warriors, the current holders of all four available trophies, lead the league standings with 26 points, four clear of second-placed St Helens. The two rivals are set to meet in Friday’s derby clash at the Brick Community Stadium. It’s worth noting that Wigan have a game in hand over Saints, which is a fixture against neighbors Leigh Leopards that was postponed in February due to Wigan’s involvement in the World Club Challenge. This rearranged Round Two encounter is scheduled for Tuesday, August 6.
Meanwhile, third-placed Warrington Wolves and Hull KR are level on points with St Helens, trailing the Saints only on points difference. In sixth place, the Salford Red Devils occupy the final play-off spot, and they have a game in hand on the fifth-placed Catalans Dragons. Salford will host Hull FC in the final match of Round 16 on Sunday afternoon, and a win would see them leapfrog the Dragons in the table.
Just outside the play-off positions are the Leeds Rhinos, who are two points behind the Catalans and Salford following their 17-16 golden point victory over bottom club London Broncos on Saturday.
