Rugby League Standout Jake Clifford Garnering Interest from Super League Clubs for 2025
Jake Clifford, the former Hull FC half-back, has emerged as a potential target for several Super League clubs for the 2025 season, Love Rugby League has learned. Clifford is currently plying his trade with the NRL side North Queensland Cowboys, but his future beyond 2024 remains uncertain.
Clifford signed a one-year deal with the Cowboys, but has been limited in his game-time this season, featuring only three times in the NRL since returning from his stint in Super League. However, his recent return to the Cowboys’ starting lineup, helping them to a 16-6 win over the reigning champions Penrith Panthers, could lead to a more extended run in the side, potentially enhancing his chances of staying with North Queensland.
“Despite the prospect of remaining with the Cowboys not being ruled out, Love Rugby League has been informed that the 26-year-old half-back has been discussed as a potential target of interest for several Super League clubs.”
Clifford himself has not entirely dismissed the idea of a return to Super League, despite his well-publicized comments about his exit from Hull FC at the end of last season. Clifford’s standout performances during his time in England have not gone unnoticed, and clubs in the market for a half-back for 2025 have discussed the possibility of securing the services of the talented playmaker.
The recruitment market is starting to heat up, and Super League clubs are looking to finalize the bulk of their signings before the end of the current season.
