Former Sky Sports Pundit Predicts Imminent Announcement of 2025 Ashes Series
Former Sky Sports pundit Mike ‘Stevo’ Stephenson has claimed that the anticipated Ashes series between England and Australia in 2025 is set to be officially announced soon. In a discussion on the Eddie and Stevo podcast, Stephenson expressed the importance of adhering to an international rugby league calendar, emphasizing that the game “will just wither and die” without it.
Stephenson criticized Australia’s focus on the State of Origin event, arguing that the priority should be placed on international fixtures. He praised the International Federation for establishing a clear international calendar, which includes a 2026 World Cup and, as per Stephenson’s insider information, an England vs. Australia Ashes series in 2025.
“The lack of a consistent international calendar has been a longtime criticism of the sport, and the decision to confirm the two-match series against Samoa later this year has been welcomed by England coach Shaun Wane.”
Stephenson expressed his eagerness for the Ashes announcement, stating that it’s “just a matter of crossing the Ts and dotting the Is” before the highly anticipated fixture is officially confirmed.
