In a thrilling Super League clash on Sunday, Hull FC produced a much-improved performance but ultimately succumbed to a heartbreaking, last-minute defeat against the Warrington Wolves. “I’m proud of them because they had a good performance but also the adversity in amongst as well,” Grix said in his post-match interview with BBC Radio Humberside. “So for a time we had one person to select from on the bench there and two for a longer time than that, so yeah they went for a bit today.”
However, the game was marred by late controversy, as referee Ben Thaler appeared to miss a crucial knock-on deep in Warrington territory. This decision infuriated the FC faithful, who believed it robbed their team of a chance to secure a potentially match-winning drop goal. Reflecting on the agonizing loss, FC boss Simon Grix expressed his pride in his team’s performance, praising their fight in the face of significant injury adversity. Grix revealed that his side had suffered three injuries during the match, with Jack Ashworth (ankle), Cam Scott (hamstring), and Ligi Sao all forced off the field.
