The national team coach has made it clear that his sole focus is on leading England through the 2026 Rugby League World Cup.
Despite recent rumors linking Wane to coaching positions with clubs in both Super League and the NRL, the former Wigan Warriors boss has confirmed his loyalty to the national team. When asked about his commitment to the England job, Wane expressed his passion for the role, stating:
“Absolutely. I love the job, I’m blessed – I never thought I’d get this job. To get it and play three Tests against Tonga, now we’ve got Samoa coming up and The Ashes in Australia, it’s a dream I never thought I’d have. So I’m going to take it.”
Furthermore, Wane dismissed any suggestion of combining a club role with his national team responsibilities, firmly stating, “I’m solely thinking about England.” The coach acknowledged his busy schedule with his Wigan commitments, as well as his speaking engagements and other activities, emphasizing that he is fully invested in the England job.
