Sky Sports Unveils Exclusive Rugby League Offerings for August
As the new Rugby League season kicks into high gear, Sky Sports has announced their exclusive picks for Super League matches in August. This marks the debut of their new streaming platform, SkySports+, which will offer fans unprecedented access to the action.
In Rounds 20 and 21, seven of the 12 Super League clubs will feature in at least one ‘exclusive’ game broadcast on the Sky Sports channels or the new SkySports+ platform. This aligns with the pre-season confirmation that every single Super League game will be shown live this season, with Super League+ streaming up to four matches per weekend and Sky selecting two ‘exclusive’ games per round.
“The first SkySports+ exclusive will be the clash between St Helens and Salford Red Devils on Thursday, August 8, which will not air on the main Sky Sports channels. The platform will also host the highly anticipated Saturday, August 10 matchup between Leeds Rhinos and Wigan Warriors at Headingley.”
Alongside the new streaming service, Sky Sports will continue to showcase selected ‘exclusive’ games on their main channels. In Round 20, Wigan Warriors’ home fixture against Huddersfield Giants on August 1 and Warrington Wolves’ clash with Hull KR on August 2 have been designated as ‘exclusive’ Sky Sports broadcasts.
The schedule also includes a rescheduled Round 2 fixture between local rivals Wigan Warriors and Leigh Leopards on Tuesday, August 6, as Wigan’s involvement in the World Club Challenge had previously forced a postponement.
With the launch of SkySports+ and the continued commitment to live coverage of every Super League game, Sky Sports is set to deliver an immersive and engaging rugby league experience for fans throughout the month of August and beyond.
