Hull FC Struggle Continues, Whitehead Transfer Race Intensifies
Hull FC’s difficult start to the 2024 season continued as they suffered another defeat, this time against Huddersfield. The Black and Whites have now won just once in their opening 13 Super League matches and remain five points behind Castleford Tigers. With the Challenge Cup break on the horizon, the club is already planning for an improved 2025 campaign. The appointment of John Cartwright as head coach for next season and the continued leadership of Director of Rugby Richie Myler have the club focused on strengthening their squad.
Rumors have surfaced that Hull FC are interested in signing several high-profile players, including John Asiata, Jayden Sullivan, and Jordan Abdull. The biggest potential addition, however, is England international Elliott Whitehead, whose contract with the Canberra Raiders in the NRL is set to expire at the end of the current season. Myler has described Whitehead as a “high-performing individual we’d be interested in,” but the club now faces stiff competition for the veteran’s signature, with the Catalans Dragons also reportedly pursuing the player.

Meanwhile, reports from France suggest that Hull FC will miss out on another transfer target, as Chris Satae is expected to honor his contract with the Catalans Dragons in 2025. Earlier rumors had suggested that Satae’s family was struggling to settle in the South of France, leading to speculation that he could return to Hull FC, but those claims have now been refuted.
As Hull FC continue their quest to improve their fortunes on the field, the club’s transfer activity, both successful and unsuccessful, will be closely monitored by their passionate fanbase. The battle to secure the signature of Elliott Whitehead is sure to be a closely watched storyline in the coming weeks.
