One side that had reason to worry was the Catalans Dragons, as the match officials appeared to miss a potentially dangerous shoulder charge from Tariq Sims during their clash, an incident that the Rugby Football League’s Match Review Panel will now scrutinize.
Franck Maria’s sin-binning for a high shot in the first half also sparked angry reactions from the St Helens players, while Romain Navarrete and Ben Garcia’s contact with Jack Welsby’s head could also result in further action.
Elsewhere, Wigan Warriors found themselves in the disciplinary spotlight, with Adam Keighran receiving a red card for a nasty-looking shot on an opponent, and Tyler Dupree seemingly headbutting a player at a play-the-ball. Despite Wigan head coach Matt Peet initially downplaying Keighran’s offense, both players have now been handed three-match bans for Grade D offenses, meaning they will miss the upcoming Challenge Cup final.
Additionally, Salford Red Devils’ Oli Partington and Chris Hankinson were involved in incidents that, while not punished at the time, could also face further scrutiny from the Panel.
In the Championship, Sheffield Eagles’ Matty Marsh has been given a two-match Penalty Notice for a Grade D Dangerous Throw/Lift offense.
