Rugby League: Leigh Leopards Open to Lachlan Lam’s NRL Return
Leigh Leopards head coach Adrian Lam has remained coy on Lachlan Lam’s future at the club beyond the current season. Lam acknowledged that if the half-back decides to return to the NRL at the end of this season, the Leopards will not stand in his way.
Lachlan Lam’s Potential NRL Move
Lachlan Lam has been heavily linked with interest from numerous NRL clubs about a potential move for the 2025 season, despite being under contract with Leigh until the end of next season. With Adrian Lam recently agreeing a new three-year deal with the Leopards, the expectation was that his son would remain at the Leigh Sports Village at least until the expiration of his current contract.
“Lachlan is contracted for this year and next,” Lam said. “Like all players who come from Australia, they have an opportunity and a dream to go back and play in the NRL and that’s Lachlan’s as well. If that opportunity comes up, when it comes up I won’t stand in Lachlan’s way. I understand how important that is to him, if he decides to go down that path.”
Leopards’ Perspective
Lam acknowledged Lachlan’s valuable contributions to the Leopards, saying the fans will never forget the great memories he has created for the club. However, the coach emphasized that the Leopards will adapt and “survive” regardless of whether they lose players this year or in the years to come.
