Castleford Tigers Confident of Securing Super League Spot for 2025
As the anticipation surrounding IMG’s impact on the 2025 Super League composition intensifies, Castleford Tigers’ Director, Martin Jepson, has emphatically stated the club’s belief in securing a spot in the top-flight competition next year. Jepson, who became a key investor and Director of the club back in December, provided an update on the progress made during his first six months in charge.
In a video message to fans, Jepson acknowledged the significant changes undertaken in the past six months, emphasizing that “there’s an awful lot more to come” as the club continues to move forward into the next Super League era. Addressing the recent speculation about Castleford’s Super League status, Jepson declared, “We believe we’ll be a Super League club next year, and we need you to believe in it as well.”

Despite the Tigers ranking 13th in the preliminary IMG grades, Jepson claimed an error in recording data had placed them half a point shy of their true score, which would have seen them leapfrog Leigh Leopards. However, the RFL’s refusal to adjust the preliminary grades has left Castleford on the outside looking in. Nonetheless, Jepson emphasized the club’s focus on improving their facilities, including the installation of a new big screen and other upgrades, to meet the necessary ranking points for IMG.
Acknowledging the team’s on-field struggles, Jepson admitted, “We know that on the field it’s been a difficult season, we can’t get away from that fact.” He specifically referenced the “disastrous” 60-4 loss to St Helens, stating that the performance “is not good enough” and that the team must “be better.” With a crucial match against Hull FC on the horizon, Jepson emphasized the importance of securing a win as the Tigers aim to land their third Super League victory of the season.
