London Broncos Claim First Super League Victory in 2024 with 34-18 Win over Hull FC
London, April 2, 2024 – In a thrilling Super League clash, the London Broncos secured their first victory of the 2024 season with a 34-18 win over Hull FC at the capital. Despite Hull’s early lead through Herman Ese’ese’s try, the Broncos fought back to lead 16-12 at halftime, courtesy of tries from Alex Walker, James Meadows and Robbie Storey.
Hull’s Yusuf Aydin edged them into an 18-16 lead in the 46th minute, but the Broncos took control from there, scoring three unanswered tries through Jarred Bassett, Lee Kershaw and Oli Leyland to seal the 34-18 victory. The win sees the Broncos level on points with Hull in the Super League table.
“We’ve been working so hard since November. It’s been really hard for the boys, we’ve just had to keep picking them up, they’ve been getting knocked down every week and there’s been some heavy scorelines and some poor performances,” Eccles told Sky Sports.
However, the coach was delighted to see his players finally rewarded for their efforts.
“At some point you need some evidence to suggest that we are getting better, that the fix ups we’re doing are right and we’ve finally got that now,” he added. Eccles also highlighted the importance of the team’s previous narrow defeat to Hull, which he believes has been a crucial learning experience.
The victory marks a significant milestone for the Broncos as they look to establish themselves in the 2024 Super League campaign. With the team slowly regaining full strength, Eccles is confident that this result will provide the necessary boost and belief to push on in the weeks ahead.
