Catalans Dragons Overpower Leeds Rhinos 26-0 in Super League Clash
In a Super League Round 11 matchup, the Leeds Rhinos were handed a 26-0 defeat by the home side Catalans Dragons in Perpignan on Saturday evening. Rohan Smith’s Leeds Rhinos have now lost five of their first 11 games this season.
The Rhinos were outclassed by a dominant Catalans team, with the hosts’ clinical finishing proving too much for the visitors. While the Rhinos’ defensive effort was improved from their previous 61-0 thrashing at the Stade Gilbert Brutus, their attacking play left much to be desired.
“Leeds struggled to breach the Dragons’ defensive line, with errors and mistakes hampering their rare forays into the opposition half. Lachie Miller, who has been a standout performer for the Rhinos this season, endured a night to forget, with a poor display in both attack and defense.”
Despite not reaching their full potential, the Catalans Dragons made the most of their home advantage, solidifying their position among the Super League’s high-flyers. With eight wins from 11 games, the Dragons now sit joint-top of the table, demonstrating their ability to grind out results even when not at their best.
Looking Ahead for the Dragons
As the temperature continues to rise in the south of France, the Dragons will look to capitalize on their upcoming home fixtures, with three of their next four games taking place at the Stade Gilbert Brutus. With a trip to reigning champions St Helens also on the horizon, the next few weeks will be pivotal in shaping the Dragons’ push for the Super League title.
