South Sydney Rabbitohs Eyeing Top Super League Forwards for Next Season
The South Sydney Rabbitohs have reportedly identified four talented Super League forwards as potential additions to bolster their roster for the upcoming season. Among the players on their radar are Wigan Warriors’ Tyler Dupree and Leeds Rhinos’ Tom Holroyd, both of whom have emerged as standout young talents in the league in recent years.
According to the Daily Telegraph, Souths’ football manager, Mark Ellison, is currently in the UK to finalize a deal for St Helens scrum-half Lewis Dodd. However, he is also keen to explore potential forward options, including what the publication refers to as “the next Sam Burgess.”
Alongside Dupree and Holroyd, the list of players reportedly interesting the Rabbitohs includes St Helens’ rising star George Delaney, who has burst onto the scene over the past 12 months, and Leigh Leopards’ prop Tom Amone, who is out of contract at the end of the current season.
While securing the services of Dupree and Holroyd would likely require a transfer fee, given that they are still under contract, a move for Amone may be more feasible for the Rabbitohs.
In addition to their focus on potential player acquisitions, the Rabbitohs are also reportedly interested in a number of Super League coaches, should their primary target, Wayne Bennett, decide against returning to the club. Leigh’s Adrian Lam, Catalans’ Steve McNamara, and England coach Shaun Wane are among the names reportedly being considered as potential replacements for the recently departed Jason Demetriou.
