Huddersfield Giants Cruise to Dominant Rugby League Victory over Hull FC
(April 15, 2024) – In a one-sided affair at the MKM Stadium, the Huddersfield Giants thumped Hull FC 56-22 to secure their third consecutive rugby league victory. The convincing win propels the Giants up into the Super League play-off positions.
The rugby league clash was never in doubt, with the visitors racing to a 40-10 lead by half-time. Huddersfield added 16 more points in the second half to emphatically seal the result, inflicting a seventh defeat of the season on the struggling Hull FC side.
Speaking to Sky Sports rugby league, Huddersfield boss Iain Watson praised his team’s “outstanding” performance, singling out winger Adam Swift for his hat-trick and overall dominant display against his former club. Swift has now scored seven tries in his last two rugby league games against Hull FC.
“The performance from the team was outstanding today. Adam [Swift] was exceptional, and it’s great to see him continue his strong form against his old club.” – Iain Watson, Huddersfield Giants head coach
The defeat continues a worrying trend for Hull FC, who have now conceded 50+ points on three occasions this rugby league season. Their ill-discipline was also a major issue, with Ligi Sao sin-binned twice in the game.
The pressure is mounting on Hull FC head coach Tony Smith, with the team managing just a single victory so far in the 2024 rugby league campaign. The frustrated home fans made their feelings known, booing at both half-time and full-time.
In contrast, the Huddersfield Giants have made an impressive start to the rugby league season, winning four of their opening seven matches. They will look to continue their strong form when they face the Catalans Dragons in the Challenge Cup quarter-finals next week.
