Australian international Josh McGuire’s stint at Warrington Wolves was short-lived, marked by controversies that ultimately led to his departure. After receiving two suspensions for using unacceptable language, the former Brisbane, North Queensland, and St George-Illawarra prop parted ways with the club.
However, McGuire has now secured a surprise return to rugby league, joining the Brisbane Broncos in an off-field role as their new wrestling coach. This position will allow him to utilize his wealth of playing experience, including representing Queensland in State of Origin and Australia at the test level.

In this new capacity, he aims to mentor the club’s younger players, sharing insights on the highs and lows of competing in the NRL.
While McGuire has been away from the game for nearly a year following his sudden exit from Warrington, he is now looking forward to contributing to the Broncos’ resurgence. The club’s recent progress has been assisted by the presence of another former Warrington player, Lee Briers, who has been touted as a potential successor to Tony Smith at Hull FC.
