2024 Super League Season Discipline Review: Red and Yellow Card Rankings

Maintaining Discipline Key as Rugby League Evolves in 2024 Super League Season

The 2024 Super League season has been marked by a significant shift in how disciplinary matters are policed, with a whopping 16 charges handed out in Round One as players and officials adjusted to the new approach to high shots. While Round Two saw Hull FC’s Nu Brown sent off for an accidental head contact, the RFL has since amended the implementation of the rules, resulting in only eight red cards across the subsequent twelve rounds.

However, the increase in yellow cards has been equally notable, with one team already reaching double figures for the number of times their players have been sent to the sin bin. Interestingly, one side has managed to avoid any yellow cards but has seen two of their players sent off.

So, which Super League teams have been the most ill-disciplined this season? To determine this, we’ve ranked the clubs based on the number of cards they’ve received, with red cards serving as the tie-breaker for teams that are level.

At the bottom of the list are the London Broncos, who have yet to have a player sent off and have only been shown two yellow cards. Castleford Tigers, on the other hand, boast an impressive record of no sin bins but two red cards, placing them 11th.

Sitting in 10th place are the reigning champions, St Helens, with two red cards and two yellow cards to their name. Warrington Wolves have managed to avoid any red cards but have been shown four yellow cards, earning them the 9th spot.

Hull KR, with zero red cards but five yellow cards, occupy the 8th position, while Huddersfield Giants, with one red card and four yellow cards, come in at 7th. The Leeds Rhinos, without a red card but six yellow cards, are the 6th most ill-disciplined team.
