The Race for the Super League Assist Leader
With just four rounds left in the 2024 Super League season, the race is on for individual awards and team prizes. Among the key battles is the race for the player with the most assists, a metric that effectively crowns the competition’s most creative talent.
The assist leader board is a fascinating one, with five players separated by just three assists. St Helens captain Jonny Lomax, teammate Jack Welsby, and London Broncos half-back Oli Leyland are tied for eighth place with 14 assists each. Leyland’s impressive form has caught the attention of Warrington Wolves, who are monitoring a potential deal to sign the rising star.
Leigh Leopards’ Matt Moylan sits seventh with 15 assists, while Leeds Rhinos’ Brodie Croft is sixth with 17. The Australian has been central to Leeds’ resurgence and could help the team secure a playoff spot in the final weeks.
Two players are tied for fourth place with 19 assists each – Hull KR fullback Niall Evalds and Warrington’s Matt Dufty, who will be sidelined for the coming weeks but hopes to return in time for the playoffs.
Sitting in joint second with 21 assists apiece are Hull KR’s Mikey Lewis and Leigh’s Lachlan Lam, who has been the subject of transfer speculation. But leading the way with 22 assists is Salford Red Devils’ Marc Sneyd, whose partnership with Jayden Nikorima could prove crucial in the Red Devils’ playoff push.
