In the opening rounds, Salford Red Devils’ veteran playmaker Marc Sneyd kicked the first drop goal of the season, stifling a Hull KR comeback in Round 3. Saints skipper Jonny Lomax then sealed a narrow victory over Huddersfield Giants with a late one-pointer in Round 9.
Sneyd was back at it just two days later, slotting over another crucial drop goal to help Salford edge out Warrington Wolves. Wigan’s Harry Smith then gave his side the edge against the Wolves in Round 13, while Sneyd’s third successful attempt of the campaign came in Salford’s win over Warrington in Round 14, marking the 50th drop goal of his illustrious Super League career.
Not to be outdone, Hull KR’s Jez Litten registered his maiden career drop goal to clinch a narrow victory over Castleford Tigers in Round 15, rounding out the six successful one-pointers we’ve witnessed so far this season.
