Midseason Super League Dream Team Revealed
Midway through the 2024 Super League season, it’s time to assess the Dream Team of the campaign so far. While several teams have enjoyed standout performers, only eight clubs are represented in this elite lineup, with notable absences including current playoff contenders Catalans Dragons and teams outside the top six like Leigh Leopards, Castleford Tigers, and London Broncos.
Warrington Wolves’ Matt Dufty earns the fullback spot, his exciting play and impressive statistics of 197 metres and 21 try contributions per game making him one of the league’s most dynamic players. On the wings, Leeds Rhinos’ Ash Handley and Wigan Warriors’ Liam Marshall have been prolific, with the former scoring 11 tries in 12 games and the latter leading the competition in clean breaks and averaging over 9 metres per carry.
In the centers, Salford Red Devils’ Nene Macdonald and Huddersfield Giants’ Esan Marsters have shone, making the most metres in the league and contributing heavily to their respective teams’ tries. The halves see Hull KR’s Mikey Lewis and Salford’s Marc Sneyd orchestrating their sides’ attacks, with Lewis’ 16 try assists and Sneyd’s 17 being league-leading stats.
Warrington’s Danny Walker is the standout hooker, his work around the ruck and impressive tackle efficiency setting him apart. In the front row, Hull FC’s Herman Ese’ese and Wigan’s Luke Thompson provide the grunt work, with Ese’ese’s relentless yardage gains and Thompson’s all-round excellence earning them spots.
The second row pairing of Salford’s Kallum Watkins and St Helens’ James Bell bring leadership, defense, and ball-playing ability, while Hull KR’s Elliot Minchella’s tireless work in the loose forward role makes him a worthy inclusion.
This Super League Dream Team reflects the exceptional individual performances across the league so far this season, showcasing the wealth of talent currently on display in the competition.
“This Dream Team showcases the incredible depth of talent in the Super League this season,” said a league spokesperson. “It’s been a thrilling campaign so far, and we look forward to seeing how these standout players continue to shape the remainder of the season.”
