Rugby League Scorers: Huddersfield’s Swift Leads the Way
(Published on April 10, 2024)
In the opening seven rounds of the 2024 Super League season, Huddersfield Giants’ winger Adam Swift has emerged as the top try-scorer, crossing the line eight times. This includes a first-half hat-trick in Round 7 against his former club, Hull FC.
Narrowly behind Swift on the leaderboard are a trio of players – Liam Marshall of Wigan Warriors, Ash Handley of Leeds Rhinos, and Matt Dufty of Warrington Wolves, all of whom have scored seven tries so far.
Marshall’s impressive tally has come in just five appearances, owing to Wigan’s involvement in the World Club Challenge and him being rested against London Broncos.
In the goal-scoring department, Salford Red Devils’ Marc Sneyd currently leads the way with 30 successful kicks, including a drop-goal against Hull KR in early March. He is closely followed by Arthur Mourgue of Catalans Dragons, who has 24 goals to his name.
Sneyd’s goal-kicking prowess has also seen him top the overall points scored in Super League, with 63 points. Mourgue is not far behind on 60 points.
Moving to the Championship, Wakefield Trinity winger Lachlan Walmsley has been the standout try-scorer, crossing the line four times in the opening three rounds since his off-season move to Belle Vue. Despite not scoring in his team’s most recent outing against Doncaster, Walmsley’s try-scoring exploits have been impressive.
In the third-tier League 1, Oldham’s Cian Tyrer tops the try-scoring charts with a remarkable six-try haul in the Roughyeds’ recent win over Hunslet. Keighley Cougars’ Ellis Robson is second on the leaderboard with six tries.
The kicking statistics are led by Keighley’s Jack Miller, who has amassed 22 successful goals and leads the overall points scored with 48 points.
As the rugby league season progresses, these scoring charts will undoubtedly see more twists and turns, with players vying to top the try-scoring, goal-kicking, and overall points tallies across the various competitions.
